‘Jinbian Rose’ , also known as “Ma’anshan Thorn Scented Rose,” is a native edible rose cultivar from Yunnan, China. It grows to about 100 cm in height and produces small, 5 cm diameter red blooms with a distinctive bicolor pattern—white at the petal base and a white midrib stripe on the reverse. Each heart-shaped bloom bears 16 to 21 petals and emits a classic rose scent. When dried, the sepals take on a golden-yellow edge, giving the rose its name. While fresh petals are scentless, the dried ones are aromatic and primarily used for floral teas. Buds are harvested before full bloom and sun-dried for storage, often used in tea or soups. Known for its properties of promoting circulation and skin health, this rose has long been valued for both ornamental and medicinal purposes.
