'Royal Palace' , a 1998 Japanese cut-flower variety by Keiichi Ichikawa, is an 80–100 cm tall shrub with 8–10 cm blooms. Summer flowers show vivid purplish-red hues (darker at tips), while autumn blooms nearly blacken, featuring velvety petals with magenta centers. Flowers retain saucer shapes initially, later transforming into dahlia-like forms, emitting light old-rose fragrance. With abundant, continuous blooming and strong reblooming ability, the rounded, dense shrub has stiff upright canes (almost thornless), dark matte foliage, and moderate disease resistance.
